A neutral density filter was used to enable a very long shutter time of nearly 5 minutes to capture these images of a modern office building and also it reflections. The movement of the clouds is recorded as a smooth streak of light during this time.
For Anthony the photographer, it’s the photography technique he used that counts. The neutral density filter he applied here is the one used to reduce or modify the amount of light which enter the lens to avoid overexposure and to allow the adjustments of the aperture, shutter speed and ISO. And this creates the special effect: the motion blur.
The blurry lines, the geometric shapes, and the difference of depth of filter all make the once mundane building into the unusual.
